Update: September 23, 2008

Hi guys, Just a reminder that we have a club meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m. - same location, Apex Hobby in American Fork. Please try to make the meetings as we do like to make decisions based on those meetings, as well as hang out and talk helis. Also, bring your new models to the meeting! If you have any business for the meeting please submit it to John beforehand or bring it with you. See you guys there!

Update: September 05, 2008

Hi guys, I wanted to just personally thank you for your work at the funfly this year. The weather was great, the people were even better, and the flying was outstanding. We had no close calls or safety issues at all and everyone got to fly as much as they wanted to. I will get the financial report done and emailed out soon. We do have about 40 event shirts remaining - if you want to buy some for yourself, family, or friends PLEASE do. We need to sell as many as we can to make back some of the costs of printing them. Let me know how many you want and which sizes, we currently have some in all sizes from small to XXL.

John and I also wanted to specifically thank a few guys for their work this weekend. Nik Coffen for his efforts in getting those wonderful yellow signs made and put in place, the sound system, making numerous supply runs, arranging the band (which was very good for those that didnt stick around), etc. Thanks to Dan, Mike, and Brent for taking numerous shifts at registration and the raffle table - you guys really made it a nicer weekend for us! Thanks to Jesse M. and Ryan for helping out in impound, running the contests, etc. Thanks to all of you for watching the flight line and keeping things in order as well. I am sure I missed someone, if I did, its not on purpose.

I think we learned alot this year about how to better plan and run the event next year (like not running into the hunt or Labor Day, right Dave?). I am sure we will start planning the next event here shortly, so jot down your ideas and get involved. Lets enjoy the few weeks of decent weather we have left this year and go flying!!

Update: July 29, 2008

Hi guys, there was a club meeting held two weeks ago. The main points of discussion were the new fuel from Magnum - it will require a little retuning of the needles - and the funfly. The funfly is a month away from today, can you believe it?! Assignments were made at the meeting - PLEASE remember your assignments, we all need to work together to make this a success. If you havent been assigned anything, please ask and we will get you involved.

Please take a few moments to pre-register for the funfly now. You will be saving us a ton of work by getting signed up and paid early. All the registration details are on the FunFly site at www.utahheli.com/uhaff as well as maps, flyers, etc. Along this same subject, if you have received a notice that your club dues are up, please get them paid as soon as you can. You can check when your membership dues are up by clicking the Member List tab on the club website and looking at the date listed with your name on the roster.

The funfly will be a blast, please try to come and invite anyone you like to check it out. Some of us will be there Thursday night to setup and get ready for Friday - we may even squeeze in some flights that evening as well. Bring a camper, tent, whatever and sleep out at the field - it should be good times. If you have a night flying heli, bring it for sure.

See you at the field this weekend, and again - if you want to be involved in the funfly just ask, there is plenty to do. I will have some flyers at the field this weekend that you guys can take and start putting up in places. Thanks!

-John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: June 16, 2008

Hi guys, just a quick update here. The UHA FunFly is scheduled and set, those of you with assignments - thanks for your work. The flyer for the funfly is available <here> in a jpeg format. If you need a printable PDF of the file to print off some large flyers, let Jim know - its a large file. The website for the funfly is www.utahheli.com/uhaff

As many of you have read, there is a nitro shortage going on. The combination of the Olympics and the major earthquake in China has limited the supply. Several major fuel makers are already out of 30% fuel for the time being. The club is working on getting one more big order in to hold us over for the year. They expect that nitro will be available again in quantity by January, so if we can get this last order in we should be covered until then. Thanks guys, start spreading the word about the funfly, it should be a fun one.

-John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: April 18, 2008

Hi guys, John conducted a good meeting yesterday up at Some Dudes Hobby Shop in West Jordan. The main points of the meeting were:

- The new field: We are just awaiting final paperwork to get really going on the field, we can go ahead and put in the entry way now though and we are thinking one of the next Saturdays would be good for all of us to meet out there and work for a couple of hours and then just fly at the modelport.

- Safety: We cannot emphasize this enough. There were 16 pilots at the field last weekend and a few times there were too many people flying, sometimes 3D in the parking area. Please remember that the flightline is to be kept from the walking path on out to the fields, no flying behind that line EXCEPT for hovering/setup in a corner of the lot somewhere. Also, lets keep only two people at a time flying on the flightline and dont fly in front of the other pilot. It would be BEST to use a spotter each and every flight as well. Lastly, everyone is a safety officer - if you see someone flying unsafe, tell them about it in a nice manner. We are all responsible for keeping things safe and fun.

- Our FunFly: We are set for the last weekend of August, the 29th-31st. We will be getting more in depth on this soon. Also, plan on a club Barbeque at the field in the next two months, these are always fun for the whole family.

- Jackets, caps, and shirts: We will be doing another jacket, shirt, and hat order this week. PLEASE contact Ryan at rchelifire@gmail.com to get your size/color info into him. Payment will be written to the UHA and you can handle that through me or John. Please get your order needs in ASAP if you want to be on this order.

- Fuel, we are ordering more fuel. We are down to 11 cases from the last one, if you need more fuel for the Summer please let me know and stock up now. I have 4 cases at my house now - if you need some this Saturday let me know, I dont have much room in the Cutlass so if you can stop by sometime today to get some, thats even better :)

- Tech Questions/Help: If you have a question or need help -ASK. You will find it easier to get help if you bring your heli to the field on a Saturday or to a meeting, that way one of us can sit down right there and get you going. Dont be afraid to ask for or give help.

Thats about it from the meeting, we want to thank Some Dudes for their support of the club and excitement. We also had three new members join at the meeting: Kenneth Wilson, Pat Schouten, and Tim Albers. Please welcome these gentlemen when you see them.

-John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: March 24, 2008

Hi guys, The meeting on Thursday went well, thanks to all those that showed up - sorry for boring you, makes you appreciate how well John runs these meetings usually :) Thanks John!!

We have posted the newest member of the month and model of the month, check them out. Also, a few new photos are in the gallery on page 33.

If you ordered a jacket, hat, stickers, or license plate frame and have not collected and paid for those as of yet - please contact me and make arrangements, I would love to get these items to you guys before the funfly.

Hope to see you all at the April Fools event in St George in a couple of weeks, and remember to make plans for our club funfly the last weekend of August. See ya at the field - hopefully this weekend!!

-John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: February 22, 2008

Hi guys, The meeting yesterday was a huge success. Thanks to all those that made it and participated. Big thanks to Ryan for giving a great tech discussion on radio programming. We were also able to get our club jackets and hats there, if you ordered some and were not able to make it yesterday, contact Ryan to arrange pickup.

Two new members joined the club at the meeting, please welcome Danh Ngo and Trinity Pentz to the club, be sure and introduce yourselves when you see them at the field or the next meeting.

Also, the latest Pilot Profile and Model of the Month are now posted, check them out. See ya at the field!!

-John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: January 25, 2008

Hi guys, John has called an "emergency" club meeting tomorrow at 1:30 PM. It will be at the site for the new flying field in Lehi - which is in the same place as the Lehi plane field (directions can be found at www.utahvalleyaeromodelers.com) We have a stack of county insurance waivers that MUST be signed by anyone that is going to fly at the new field. We need all members to sign a waiver. Once we get our current members signed up, we can send the packet back to the county and get the final ok and get to work on the property.

Even if you cannot stay long, please show up at or around 1:30 pm tomorrow to at least sign the waiver. The sooner we get these signed, the sooner we can all start flying at the new field.

We will also be measuring and walking the new field out to start planning the layout etc. These are exciting times for the club - thanks for being a part of it!!

-John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: January 22, 2008

Hi guys, The meeting last Thursday went extremely well. We had a pretty good turnout and had a great time. The first model of the month was selected, congrats Steve! We look forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting on Feb 21st at 7pm.

The first pilot profile, which happens to be me (Jim) as John asked that I start it off, has been posted today. Also, the model of the month section went live today with Steve Cooper's 600N being featured.

There are 3 new pages of pics in the gallery (pages 25-27) they are from last weekends flying and club meeting. Check them out!

Please take a look at the members page as I have now added the month and year for when your dues come up again. Now you can simply look at the club site to find out when its your time to pay again.

Lastly, please welcome our newest member, Ron Casper. Ron has been flying with us for a while now and joined at the last club meeting. Welcome Ron! Be sure to join the forum!

See ya at the meetings and the field,

John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: December 18, 2007

Hi guys, we hope you all have a great Christmas!! Lets have a club meeting, and do try to attend if possible, on Thursday December 27th at 7pm. This will give us all a couple of days to get Christmas cleaned up. There are some really exciting prospects and topics to talk about as a club. Please come with ideas, new goodies, etc. The meeting will be held at Apex hobbies in American Fork (by Rib City and Golds Gym) please thank Tom for letting us use the shop for this meeting. Please mark your calendars for December 27th at 7pm to hold a meeting.

Have a Merry Christmas guys, the last few weekends have been brutal, lets hope for a little calm weather soon so we can fly again.

John Morgan and Jim Innes

Update: December 12, 2007

Hi guys, Nik Coffen had a great idea to "Pay it Forward" with our heli items. If you have items that you no longer need, or are in need of, send a list to the club guys and lets see if we can share amongst eachother.

Also, have a Merry Christmas guys, the last few weekends have been brutal, lets hope for a little calm weather soon so we can fly again.

Jim Innes

Update: November 1, 2007

Hi guys, Jim here. I know things have been quiet around here lately. John is going to throttle back a bit on the helicopters for now, that is why you have not seen him in the last few weeks (besides the run of bad weather, hehe). If you need anything club-wise, let us know. A number of us have been duscussing more permanent field ideas and have a few options to look at. If you have ideas, land, etc and want to help in this undertaking, please get involved and let us know.

Last weekend we had some great flying weather and a handful of us were at the field all day long. I have a few pics from last weekend in the gallery, pages 22 and 23 are the newest ones. Take a look! I piled my mini titan into the ground inverted because.... yeah, I forgot to hit idle up - rusty brain and fingers will do that to you. She is all fixed and ready to go again though. I still have a couple of gallons of fuel in reserve if anyone is desperate, but the new shipment wont be too much longer and we will be stocked again.

This weekend looks like it should ok to fly again, so get to the field if you can. I will be replacing the windows at my house so I may not make it down - but will do my best to! Please take the time to help the newer guys at the field, even if you are a "newer" guy yourself, they will appreciate you for it and you can make a huge contribution to keeping someone in the hobby, not to mention the safety of a double-checked heli. Also, would you all stop showing me up with your skills? Its getting embaressing.... hehe.

We should get together, outside of flying, sometime before Christmas, if you have any ideas - let us know. I will be flying all winter on Saturdays, as long as it isnt snowing or raining on that day, so if you dont mind a little frostbite - please join me!!

Thanks again for everything guys, if you have any club input - PLEASE send it our way, this is your club and I would like nothing more than to see it run by its members as a whole. Happy Flying!!!

Jim Innes

Update: September 17, 2007

Hi guys, Jim here. The IRCHA Northwest funfly was a great success. John and I wish to thank all the people that helped out and donated time and supplies to the event. Thank you guys in the club for your work and effort - you know who you are. Lets get back to normal flying and begin planning another one soon. See ya at the field!!

***************Presidents' Message: April 4th, 2007***************

Hey Guys,

Flying season is upon us. I am excited for this season for a number of reasons. I will share a few with you. I want the main focus for the club this year to be on finding a flying field. We need to find a Semi- or Permanent place to fly. This site needs to completely compliant with AMA rules and regulations. I will be approaching all the members to keep there eyes and ears open to finding a site. Ask people you know that own land or people you know that know people that own land or have access to land that we can approach about a flying site. We need a site, not only to fly, but i think the key to keeping our club successful is obtaining a flying field. Another benefit to a flying field, is that we will attract most of the Heli flyers to us. Our membership will increase significantly. So everbody please focus on this mission.

We will be ordering fuel and the cost to members will be $16.50 per gallon. This is slightly higher than our cost, but will give a small amount back to the club fund. The fuel will be Magnum 30% Heli. We will let you know when it arrives.

We are going to try and get the IRCHA fun fly back again this year and we will keep you informed on this as information is recieved by us. (UPDATE: IRCHA approved the request and we will be hosting the IRCHA SW funfly in September - Jim Innes will be heading the event committee and you will hear from him shortly)

I am very excited to tell you that Maui Chai has agreed to let us hold our club meetings at his place of business. They will be held the first Wed. evening of every month at 7:00 pm. (UPDATE: This months meeting will be held next Wednesday, April 11th if possible, we will let you know) The name of his business is Flex-Tek, and is located a half block east of where we are flying now. When you see Maui, thank him for being so generous. We will be calling all the members from now on every month before the meetings to remind you. Please try to attend the meetings. We need everybodys input and ideas at the meetings, and you being there helps the club grow and succeed. I would like to thank everybody for voting for me, and i promise to do a good job.

Thanks, JOHN

***************Presidents' Message: March 19th, 2007***************

Hi Guys,

The club election results are in. I presented them to those in attendance at Saturday's meeting. Nearly 80% of the club voted, thanks!! Here is the new officer list for 2007:

President - John Morgan
VP - Jim Innes
Safety - Jesse Contreras

John took over immediately and we all agreed that finding/securing a better field location should be the main priority for the club. We may have some good prospects next year, but if any of you know of a land owner or place that is a possibility for now - please let John know. His email is: morg169@msn.com

We are still looking for volunteers to handle the event and development committees. As well as someone to run the newsletter (electronic version only). If you would like to help out with any of these - let us know.

Lastly, I wanted to thank you guys for the support you have given James and I over the last year. We pulled off a great funfly and had a good year of flying to boot. Thanks again for all of your efforts and safe flying! Please give John the same support!!

Thanks, Jim

***************Presidents' Message: March 5th, 2007***************

- Jim

**************Presidents' Message: March 2nd, 2007***************

Hi guys, this was just posted at RunRyder by Doug regarding the April Fools funfly:

--------------------------------------------------------

We regret to announce that due to lack of Pre-Registrations & Interest for this year we are cancelling the 3rd annual April Fools Fly In, in St. George Utah.

For those people that have pre-registered, we will be issuing refunds over the next week, if you paid through PayPal that is where your refund will be made, if you mailed in a Registration, we will return the envelope to sender.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and hope that you have a great year at the many other Helicopter events around the country.

----------------------------------------------------
So if you have reserved a room or taken time off work, etc, go ahead and cancel. I am hoping we can get more info from Doug on this, but its really sad either way. I was really looking forward to it myself, and I know a few other guys were to.

Anyway, just dropping the info your way. Thanks, Jim

***************Presidents' Message: February 27th, 2007***************

Hi guys,

Quick message, I finally updated the club rules to include the FAA AC 91-57 guidelines, as we talked about in the club meeting. They can be found here to view or print. The main point to that FAA document that concerns us is the 400 foot altitude limit. Lets keep all our flying below 400 feet, just to be safe and to not interfere with the full scale aircraft using the Provo airport. For your info, you can view the FAA document here.

Second, it looks like there will be some of us at the April Fools event after all. If you havent decided yet - do come, it has been a great event in the past and should be again. Also, drop me an email if you are going for sure - even if you have told me before (I have a bad memory) and I will get a list made of all that are going. To pre-register, go to www.desert-heliz.com and get it done.

Third, thanks to those that have submitted club nominations so far. If you havent, try and send them in. We will be holding the elections at our club meeting in March. I would like to hold the meeting either on the 10th or 17th - or if more guys can make it on a weeknight, lets do that. Please let me know if one of those two Saturday morning works for you - I will do my best to set a day and time that will allow most of you to be present. It is important that we get our votes and volunteers in. I am also thinking that if you for sure cant make it to the election meeting, that we may be able to do an "absentee" thing where someone can call you from the meeting and get your votes - what do you guys think?? I just want to be sure everyone gets a chance to make some input on this. Thanks in advance for it.

Flying season is right around the corner, lets get those helis ready and have a good year!!

PS - If you have any pics or videos you want posted, send them my way and I will get them online for you.

Thanks, Jim

***************Presidents' Message: February 20th, 2007***************

Hi guys,

I forgot to welcome our newest member in our last message. His name is Karl Olsen (karl_olsen1@msn.com) he is pretty new to the heli game and is currently flying a Trex 600.  He had two successful, event free, hovers this past weekend.  Give him a hello when you can.

Also, The details for the April Fools funfly in St George are done. The website is: www.desert-heliz.com and all the info is there.  The funfly is taking place at the Staheli Sod Farms March 30th thru April 1st. The sod farm is only a few miles away from the old airport where the last event was held - its in the same general area.

There are MANY hotels within a few miles of the sod farm. Our usual spot "Best Inn and Suites" is already booked full on Thursday night - but as of today, it still has rooms available for Friday and Saturday at a pretty good rate.  I am staying at the Crystal Inn in St George - we have an Entertainment card that gave us a good discount there and it has rooms open for Thursday thru Sunday still. My wife and I are leaving Thursday daytime and staying through Sunday afternoon (3 nights).  If you would like to stay at the Crystal Inn also, their number is: (435)688-7477.  One nice thing about the Crystal Inn is that the ground floor rooms have patio doors that open right into the parking lot - so you can park at night right at your back door and unload all your heli stuff in only a few minutes.  I dont know what other promotional rates they offer, but if you have an entertainment card ( www.entertainment.com) - the room is $80 a night.

I do hope some of you make it to the funfly, and like I said - if you are not staying Thursday night - give the Best Inn and Suites a call, they are $60 a night and we have always been pleased with them.  Also, the desert-heliz website lists two hotels that have rooms blocked for the funfly at a good rate (we decided to stay at Crystal because we have before and really enjoyed it). Wherever you stay, please get your rooms booked in a hurry - there are other events that weekend and rooms are going fast.

Thanks for the time, and please get your club officer nominations in to me soon, even if you are not active in the club currently - your opinion matters. - Jim

***************Presidents' Message: February 15th, 2007***************

Hi guys,

I have more info for you regarding the meeting this Saturday - 10 AM - at World Class Codels.  PLEASE come down, even if it is just for the meeting (we will of course go flying right after though).  Bring a chair also, as I dont think John has too many at the shop :).

****Here are the key topics I wanted to cover and get out to you guys, please if you ahve others that you feel need discussion - let me know:****

-- IRCHA SW Funfly for this year, Gary Travis is planning be at the meeting to discuss this with us - it is still something we should be able to do, just need to cover some details for it.

-- Club leadership - would like to get nominations for club leadership during the following year, with a vote planned for March's club meeting.  Here are the positions I think we should be looking at:
- President, - Vice Pres, - Safety Officer, - Treasurer (seperate duty or mixed with one above?), - Events Committee Chair, - Development Committee Chair.  I realize we are not a huge group of guys, but even if every person in the club had one of these jobs - that would be fine. We can all work together to get things rolling.

-- The idea behind the Development Committee chair is to have a person work on the relations the club has with the LHS, field management, public in general AND to head the search for a more permanent flying location.  This person would also compile the newsletter if we have one.

-- April Fools St George funfly, whos going? - plans, etc.

-- Club Account information, disclosure, etc - basically a treasurer's report.

-- Club rules/safety/frequency information - a refresher course on safe practices at the field.

-- New members, visitors, etc

-- Club Bylaws - we need some, should we use AMA template or perhaps borrow from other local clubs?

-- AMA Charter, do we want it yet, should we push for it: thoughts?

-- Newsletter - do we want to do one? Electronic or Paper?

-- Club Barbeque - Summer.

-- Relationship with UVA, what can we do to perhaps join forces and have a positive impact for aeromodeling in Utah in general.

-- Models and Tips of the month. I really like how the UVA highlights members models and also has membership do demos and tech tips, small workshops at club meetings.  There are many talented guys in our group and it would be great to share this knowledge around.  If you guys are into this, lets get a list of presenters and topics put together. The model of the month thing can be a simple nomination/vote thing if a certain persons heli impresses you, nominate it.

Thats all I could think of, I hope we dont take too much time and I dont plan on being long winded so - if we keep things going we can get done within an hour and get everyone involved.

It is important that you come to the meeting if you can, we want everyones input and ideas.

Thanks for the time guys, I do hope the agenda will help make the meeting a fruitful venture. Spring is right around the corner - I suspect the flying field will again be pretty packed come Summer :).

I also wanted to drop a big thanks to the guy that started this whole thing some years ago, John Morgan.  He got this thing started and with Kym Thompson, the two of them have kept it alive, friendly, and open.  John is also the one that helped me get started in the right direction with helis - without his help I probably would have quit shortly after starting.

Anyways, enough soapbox now - just wante to acknowledge the guys that have put a lot of themselves into this club.  I do believe that we can succeed in attaining our goals as a group if every member will put in some effort. Dont forget though, its all about the fun!!

See you at 10 AM Saturday at World Class Models.
Thanks - Jim

***************Presidents' Message: February 12th, 2007***************

Hi guys,

I was stuck at home this weekend with a nasty cold, so I wasnt abel to fly and it was pretty warm out. Those of you that did make it flying, let me know how it went. And if you have any new flying pics, send em on in!

Our meeting is still planned for this Saturday morning, 10 AM, at World Class Models. Please come, as we will be deciding a few things based on majority vote of who is there.

The April Fools funfly is coming up, lets get a head count of who is going.

Thanks, Jim

***************Presidents' Message: January 31st, 2007***************

Hi guys,

A few of us made it down last Saturday and boy was it colder than expected, but we were able to fly and have a good time regardless. Brent snapped a couple of pics while there, they are in the gallery (Page 14). A number of us are planning on going to the St George April Fools funfly. This is always a fun event and we get lots of flying in. If you havent sent me an email/phone call about the funfly, please do so - it would be good to know who is going so we can arrange extra transportation, etc if needed.

We still need a club meeting, would Saturday mornings still work best with everyone? John at World Class has said we can use the shop for our meeting to keep out of the cold and we should take him up on that offer :). Let me know if you are against a Saturday morning meeting, ortherwise we will plan on having it the weekend after the Vegas funfly (February 17th) at around 10 am. The main topic of discussion will be the clubs finances, I will bring the bank statements, etc and we can all know where the club stands and decide what to do from here on. I would also like to have a vote/volunteers for club officers - including treasurer. Also, there are 3 EPA superfund sites in our area that we could push the AMA to help us obtain for a flying field, I would like to discuss where they are and get a vote on which areas to pursue the strongest.  Lastly, we need to discuss a funfly - I know Gary is working hard with IRCHA on getting the Southwest event again - I will contact him and should have more details by the meeting.  If we are unable to keep the IRCHA event in Utah, I think we could still host a decent funfly.  Last years went over really well - thanks mostly to the work of John M, James L, and Gary T.  Remember also, that you can bring anu club issues/questions/concerns/suggestions up with Marc or Jake also.

Lastly, we are looking for the club's set of training gear. It is a Rotopod unit and it would be good to at least know its whereabouts, there have been a few times in the last few months when it would have been handy. So if it is hiding out in your shop or garage, let me know - we dont need to get it or anything - just would be good to know where it is.

Thanks guys, winter will be over before you know it. - Jim

***************Presidents' Message: January 8th, 2007***************

Well, the new year is upon us and I hope all your Christmas and New Years plans went well. It wont be too long before Spring flying weather arrives, but for now we can use the sim and fly on those random warmer days.

Again, I hope all the UHA members had a memorable Holiday Season and hope to see you at the field whenever its possible!! We will hold a club meeting shortly, I will find an indoor location for it and get the details out as soon as possible.

Happy Flying - Jim

***************Presidents' Message: December 11th, 2006***************

Hi guys,

Last Saturday was some of the best weather we will see for a while - those that flew enjoyed it.  We have a new member to welcome, his name is Pat Ekman, he is from PG and is just starting out - he had a successful hover Saturday. If you get a chance to meet him or say hi, introduce yourself. He flies a Raptor 50.

Also, we discussed a little bit on Saturday about next years IRCHA SW funfly. A number of guys mentioned a desire to hold the event in May instead of September if possible. I will work with Gary and IRCHA to see what the possible dates are, Marc Despain is working with some field options for it as well - again, all this is preliminary and we will work with IRCHA on every aspect, and if September is the date needed - that will be good too.

It was also mentioned that we should hold a club Christmas party, maybe at a local restaurant or buffet - lets get some ideas emailed to me and see what the consensus would be on this.  I would like to do it if enough guys are interested.

I have been perusing the EPA website and have found that a few locations in our area are part of the Superfund development program. I am going to contact the AMA on these sites to see if they are green lighted for our use or not and to see the steps we need to take to obtain one of these sites.

Lastly, I did test my DX7 radio setup this weekend in my Trex 600. It worked beautifully, I have never felt so connected to a helicopter in flight before - and the radio worked flawlessly.  New times are coming for our hobby - shoot downs will become a thing of the past in the coming years.

Get out and fly - build - or practice on that sim. Hope to catch you guys at the field!!! - Jim

***************Presidents' Message: November 20th, 2006***************

Hi guys, This is Jim Innes - I recently contacted James Larsen regarding the club presidency and he informed me that due to his enormous work load that there is no time to fly, yet alone handle club needs.  He has asked me to step in and "take the helm".  I will act as Interim President until a new presidency is elected.  Our standard election time is in March, but if the club membership would like to hold elections in December we can do that as well.  James did a great job as president and his work at and for the funfly was amazing, I hope he can find the time to play more in the near future.

I am asking that in the interim that any club members interested in being/nominating someone for the new club president please let me know.  The only requirements are a dedication to the hobby and the ability to be at the field regularly.  I know most of you guys pretty well and I think any one of you would do a great job.

I would like to hold a club meeting before years end, we need to discuss the funfly we just held and discuss preliminary plans for next years event.  Please reply to this message with the times and days that work best for you regarding meetings.  I will compile everyones availability and recommend a meeting time based on that.

Two more items:

Number one: Our friend and club co-founder, John Morgan, has apparently been named the new president of the UVA club in Lehi. Please congratulate John when you see him - he is a great asset to those guys, as he has been for us for a very long time. John has trained more new pilots by himself than the rest of us combined (I was one of thsoe guys he trained).  I personally hope that having John at the helm of the UVA will allow our two groups to work together and become a larger force in the growth of the hobby.

Number Two: As some of you have noticed, the club has gained numerous new pilots in the last two months - and there are two or three other new guys signing up shortly.  Please give the new guys some of your time and vast knowledge, they really appreciate it and it helps them inmeasurably.  I know that Kym, Marc, and Duc have given alot to these new guys already and I am pleased to report that for the most part the new club members are progressing successfully.  Thanks guys!!

***************Presidents' Message: April 25th, 2006***************

Hi guys, Saturday turned out to be a great day for flying. We held our club meeting @ 9.00 am. The hot topic was fuel. Thanks to John at World class models any current club member can purchase fuel at a discounted price. We will be sending John a current list of club members.  We have been asked not to publish the price, but it is about what we paid last year. Utilizing WCM will free up club capitol to host fun flies and other events. The other topic was club dues. The voting was unanimous, club dues are due by June 1st of each year. If you have already paid this year you are paid up until June 1st 2007. the reason for the change is our club is growing and will continue to do so in the up coming years. It is difficult to keep track of what month each Heli pilot joined and collecting their dues. I would urge each pilot to view the club rules, they can be found on the club web site. Just a reminder, We would ask that each pilot check the frequency chart before turning on your radio. We also have club t-shirts for sale $9.00
p.s if you owe for fuel please pay.
