**Profiled Pilot for July 2010: Jeff Billings

Name: Jeff Billings

My obsession with radio control started when I was twelve years old. I built my first boat when I was thirteen and started hanging around the boat races in L.A. After my family moved to Logan I found myself alone at the pond. When I was seventeen I went on a four wheeler trip with some friends for the weekend only to return to discover my mom sold all my r/c stuff in a yard sale. After high school I enlisted in the Logan air flight school where I acquired my commercial pilot license and instrument rating.

While building flight hours I had the opportunity to fly a hughes 300c heli from Logan to rocky mountain helicopters in Provo. On the way back we (my aircraft mechanic and I) decided to stop off and grab a bite. We found a large open parking lot in Sandy that had a Little Ceasars pizza. After a quick slice we were on our way back to Logan. I moved to Salt lake and met up with some guys that had the same interests in boats that I did, and we would travel to Las Vegas and L.A. to do some racing. They got married and had to give up the boats where I found myself alone at the pond again.

Then one day I was at the hobby store staring at shelves where I thought boats should be and saw a Blade CX. This started a whole new trend in my r/c profile. I bought a few different indoor helis and mastered my indoor flying skills. I soon got bored tormenting the cats and wife. Then I saw an ad on KSL for a r/c swap meet in Ogden. I woke up the wifey and away we went. I bought a used 30 size Raptor and with the help of John Morgan we got it updated and ready to fly. Since then I acquired a few more hellis and even a couple of boats.
