2007 Approved UHA Rules (AMA Required for Membership)
- All pilots will check the frequency board/chart FIRST thing upon arrival to the flying field. If there is a conflict, they will notify a club officer and the other pilot with whom they will share the channel. A impound will be used only for those with conflicting channels. The pilot must check for conflicts themselves, they cannot send a third party to do this. Pilots using Spread Spectrum radios should also sign up on the frequency board - just so others know that they won’t interfere with your radio.
- When a new pilot/non club member arrives, the Safety Officer will approach them and discuss frequency issues with them. All club members should consider themselves safety officers for this task. When you see someone new, please approach them. Be friendly and help keep everyone safe.
- Before each flight, please check the frequency board before turning on the transmitter. Those with radios in impound will need to check the transmitter in promptly after their flight, so that the other pilot may fly.
- All pilots may only be accompanied to the flight line by ONE other person. This other person, the spotter, should watch for other pilots, walkers, spectators, etc. and warn the pilot of any possible dangers.
- The flight line may only support two flying pilots at once. It can accommodate more when hovering or doing small figure eights, mini helis, etc. Please limit your flying to your area so that the pilot next to you can focus on their helicopter and not yours. NO FLYING BEHIND THE RUNWAY will be permitted. This includes taking off and landing. Carry your heli to the flight line before spooling up.
- The club adheres to the FAA document regarding Model Aircraft (AC 91-57). The document explicitly gives us a 400 foot above ground altitude limit. No flying higher than 400 feet AGL is permitted. Give right of way and respect to full scale aircraft. Also, the document advises us to not fly model aircraft in public areas such as public parks, schools, etc. A little common sense goes a long way in this matter, be safe no matter where you are flying.
- Any flying over a persons head will result in immediate grounding of that flight and a warning. Please respect other people and their right to safety. Use common sense.
- When a crash has happened, all pilots currently in the air must land. This will allow the pilot and others to help pick up any debris and find any missing items in SAFETY.
- Have Fun , this is a hobby and we are in it for the enjoyment!!!
